EnterpriseDB Supports Growth of UK’s Largest Independent Ticket Agency with Improved Database Reliability, Scalability and Performance

ISELIN, N.J. and LONDON – July 11, 2007 – EnterpriseDB, the Oracle-compatible database company, announced today that Ticketline, the UK’s largest independent ticket agency, has selected EnterpriseDB Advanced Server as the database platform supporting its core, mission-critical ticketing system. Ticketline chose EnterpriseDB for its ability to provide a robust and scalable enterprise database with 24/7 support at a cost significantly less than alternative solutions.

Ticketline covers more than 8,000 live events across the UK every year, issuing tickets through Web, call center, and retail outlets. As Ticketline continues to grow its business, supporting an increased number of bookings across all outlet channels will be critical. Transitioning from its current open source PostgreSQL database to EnterpriseDB Advanced Server will enable Ticketline to increase the speed and improve the reliability of its ticketing system.

“EnterpriseDB’s superior support and robust management tools will help us to reduce costly downtime and improve the overall experience for our customers,” said Emma Lovatt, technical manager, Ticketline. “Oracle was deemed to be cost-prohibitive and was not seriously considered because of IT total cost of ownership reasons. We chose EnterpriseDB because it gave us all the benefits of Oracle, including enhanced support and enterprise-class features, at a much lower cost.”

Originally developed on open source database PostgreSQL, Ticketline’s custom-built application is regarded as one of the most advanced online ticketing systems available in terms of speed, versatility, functionality, and marketing support. Moving this system to EnterpriseDB will further improve performance, reliability, and scalability to support Ticketline’s 24/7 operation and business growth objectives. Ticketline is also considering reselling its ticketing system to other ticket agencies.

“We are delighted to be working with Ticketline to improve the overall performance of their ticketing system,” said Steve Bale, general manager, EMEA, EnterpriseDB. “Our enterprise-class database offers enhanced features and functionality, at an affordable price, that enable Ticketline to provide its customers with the best possible service.”
