Advanced Postgres Application Development
This class is designed for people with some Postgres application development experience and a production Postgres database environment.
To reduce your custom programming load, there are advanced features in Postgres that allow you to manipulate Geospatial data and XML and perform database wide full text searches. In this course you will learn how to use these powerful facilities as well as learn how to program in a Highly Available database environment using 2 phase commits and XA (global transactions that may span multiple resources). Knowledge of Database Links will give you the ability to connect to other relational file systems and operate federated database queries. Beyond the basic security that is provided in the database configuration files, you will also learn how to use other security techniques like LDAP and PAM in your applications.
Participants should be proficient in regular Postgres DBA functions. The Introduction to Postgres Administration course and its associated Certification exam provide an excellent foundation. The Advanced Postgres Administration course prepares DBA's to manage large, highly available databases and their related security requirements with confidence.
