1.1 What’s New

This section lists the Oracle compatibility features that have been added to Postgres Plus Advanced Server 9.0 to form Postgres Plus Advanced Server 9.1.

    ● Advanced Server now includes the DBMS_RLS built-in package, which enables the implementation of Virtual Private Database and security policies. See Section 7.7.

    ● Advanced Server now includes Oracle data dictionary views ALL_POLICIES, DBA_POLICIES, and USER_POLICIES. See Sections 10.8, 10.26, and 10.44, respectively.

    ● Advanced Server now supports table partitioning functions. For more information about table partitioning support, please see Section 12.

    ● Advanced Server now implements error handling with the EDB*Plus WHENEVER SQLERROR command. See Section 11.1.2.31 for more information.

    ● Advanced Server now supports the HEXTORAW() and RAWTOHEX() string functions. For more information, See Section 0.

    ● Advanced Server now supports the /*+ ORDERED*/ optimizer hint. See Section 3.4.3 for more information.

    ● Advanced Server now includes support for the OCIBreak function. See Section 9.3.1 for more information.

    ● Advanced Server's implementation of the OCL library now provides support for REF CURSORs. For more information about REF CURSOR support, see Section 9.2.

    ● Advanced Server's implementation of the CREATE TRIGGER command now includes the WHEN condition clause. For more information about defining and using triggers, see Section 5.

    ● Advanced Server now supports Pro*C compatible syntax with the ECPGPlus Connector. For more information about ECPGPlus, see Section 13.

    ● Advanced Server now supports pre-defined PRAGMA EXCEPTION_INIT error codes. For more information about PRAGMA EXCEPTION_INIT, see Section 4.5.9.
