3.1 Installing an RPM Package

Using yum to install Advanced Server (or its supporting components) is a simple process:

Download the edb-repo installation package from:
The edb-repo RPM creates the repository configuration file (named edb-repo). The edb-repo file contains connection information for the EnterpriseDB repository. You must create this file if you are installing Advanced Server and its supporting components via an RPM package over the web.
To enable a repository, change the value of the enabled parameter to 1 and replace the username and password placeholders in the baseurl specification with your user name and the repository password.
Enable the [edbas96] and the [enterprisedb-dependencies] entries in the edb.repo file to install:
Modify the [enterprisedb-tools] and the [enterprisedb-dependencies] entries in the edb.repo file to install:
To install any package, be sure the enterprisedb-dependencies repo is enabled to ensure dependent packages will be installed.

After modifying the content of the repository configuration file, you can use the yum install command to install Advanced Server or its supporting components. For example, to install the server and its core components, invoke the command:
