EnterpriseDB Expands Services to Support Swelling Ranks of PostgreSQL Users

Date -2013-06-26 Location - BEDFORD, Mass. New RemoteDBA services help DBAs with maintaining, monitoring and expanding PostgreSQL deployments.

EnterpriseDB, the leading worldwide provider of enterprise-class PostgreSQL products and Oracle database compatibility solutions, today announced new RemoteDBA services to support enterprises with deploying or managing PostgreSQL.

The rapid rise in popularity worldwide of PostgreSQL and EnterpriseDB’s Postgres Plus products have also increased demand for a wider range of support services. With the new service offerings, EnterpriseDB now provides organizations with round-the-clock global database monitoring and regular database maintenance at three different levels of service to meet a growing spectrum of needs. Having the additional support means in-house database administrators can devote resources to expanding database deployments by speeding up migrations from costly traditional databases like Oracle and developing new applications.

“Organizations want a range of services when they take on something new and PostgreSQL is no exception, whether it’s to help with a small test deployment or more complex migration. We’re responding to their needs,” said Marc Linster, Vice President of Professional Services at EnterpriseDB. “Working with us to help manage PostgreSQL means enterprises have a partner to help ensure their success.”

EnterpriseDB is uniquely positioned to support both users of its Postgres Plus products and PostgreSQL. The company is the largest provider of PostgreSQL-based products with some of the world’s biggest brands as customers, and the company employs many PostgreSQL community leaders, committers and contributors.

With the addition of two new service packages, RemoteDBA is now available in three service tiers. With the first tier, EnterpriseDB establishes a core monitoring and alert infrastructure with real-time alerts to customers. EnterpriseDB adds on top of that, with its basic service package, the maintenance of production databases, starting with an Architectural Health Check, and advice and support for ongoing database operations.

With its premium service package, EnterpriseDB also provides a host of database planning and deployment services in addition to the services in the two other tiers. These include capacity planning, user/security/index maintenance, query tuning and table partitioning, point in time recovery setup, setup of a development/test environment, replication setup and a named Support contact with regular status meetings.
