EnterpriseDB Joins Open Source Channel Alliance as Charter Member
EnterpriseDB Selected by Red Hat as an Enterprise-Ready Open Source Vendor
METUCHEN, N.J., April 14, 2009 - EnterpriseDB, a leading enterprise open source database company, today announced that it has joined the Open Source Channel Alliance as one of eight charter members. The Open Source Channel Alliance is a consortium of independent software vendors (ISVs) led by Red Hat. The consortium seeks to deliver the value of open source technologies to the mid-market through a distribution agreement with SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX), a leading business process services company with an extensive channel of value-added resellers (VARs) and system integrators (SIs). Red Hat identified each charter member as a provider of enterprise-ready open source applications and solutions that are supported on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss Enterprise Middleware, instilling confidence in SYNNEX' community of VARs and SIs that they are bringing trusted open source solutions to their end-customers. The Open Source Channel Alliance will enable SYNNEX to provide its channel partners with end-to-end solutions powered by EnterpriseDB, Red Hat, and the other consortium members.
"Our channel partners and their customers will benefit tremendously from the Open Source Channel Alliance because, together with the founding members, we can offer multiple end-to-end solutions in open source," said Bob Stegner, senior vice president, marketing, North America, SYNNEX Corporation. "The EnterpriseDB open source product offering empowers value added resellers, system integrators, and end customers with the freedom of choice without the fear of vendor lock-in."
"We expect our partnership with SYNNEX and the Open Source Channel Alliance to be an important part of our go-to-market strategy," said Ed Boyajian, chief executive officer, EnterpriseDB. "More than 15,000 SYNNEX resellers will now be able to offer their customers cost-effective, enterprise-class open source database solutions powered by Postgres Plus."
