EnterpriseDB Names Ed Boyajian Chief Executive Officer

Senior Red Hat Executive to Lead Enterprise Open Source Database Company

EDISON, N.J., Jun. 4, 2008 - EnterpriseDB, the leading enterprise open source database company, today announced that Ed Boyajian, former vice president and general manager, North American sales, Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), has been named president and chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors of EnterpriseDB. The appointment will be effective June 9, 2008. Boyajian succeeds Andy Astor, who will become the company's executive vice president of business development.

Boyajian, 45, spent the last six years at Red Hat, playing a sales leadership role in the company's success with open source operating systems and middleware. As vice president and general manager, North American sales, he led sales and field marketing efforts across all the company's commercial segments and channels in North America and Canada. Prior to that role, he was Red Hat's vice president, worldwide OEM and North American channels, establishing Red Hat's strategic partnerships with IBM, HP, and Dell and scaling up the company's indirect business model. Earlier, he was vice president, North American sales, East, during the launch of the company's Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) products.

"EnterpriseDB is the worldwide leader in bringing the open source Postgres database to enterprises and developers," said Boyajian. "There is a growing gap between the expensive proprietary database products available today and the entry-level open source alternatives. The Postgres Plus product family fills that gap beautifully. The Postgres open source community is active and talented, and the company has an experienced and enthusiastic team and a compelling roadmap for the future. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to lead EnterpriseDB in its next phase of growth and success."

Prior to joining Red Hat, Boyajian was the vice president of services and marketing at arsDigita, an early pioneer in open source collaboration software (acquired by Red Hat). Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of SkyFire Technologies, a wireless software technology company, and vice president, strategy, of ServiceSoft Software (now Kana). Boyajian also served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. from Boston University.

"Ed's deep experience with the open source software market, his outstanding organizational leadership abilities, and his focus on driving revenue and building brands make him the ideal person to take EnterpriseDB to the next level," said Dave Power, a partner at Fidelity Ventures and a member of EnterpriseDB's board of directors. "The entire board is looking forward to working with Ed to build on the company's past achievements."
