EDB Postgres Subscription Plans

EnterpriseDB products are licensed as part of annual subscriptions. EDB offers subscriptions for:

Postgres Plus Cloud Database on Amazon Web Services and EDB Postgres on Google Compute Platform are provided through pay-as-you-go models in the AWS Markeplace and in the Google Marketplace.

Postgres Plus Cloud Database on AWS can also be accessed as part of an annual subscription. Contact Us for this cost-saving option.

EDB Postgres Platform Subscriptions

Customers have multiple options to access the EDB Postgres Platform subscriptions:

  • The EDB Postgres Enterprise subscription includes the use of EDB Postgres Advanced Server, EDB’s enhanced Postgres distribution with enhanced security, enterprise tooling for DBAs and application developers, and Oracle database compatibility.
  • The EDB Postgres Standard subscription includes use of EDB’s tool suites, technical support and software maintenance for PostgreSQL.
  • The EDB Postgres Developer subscription allows the use of EDB’s Postgres Platform in non-production (development, QA and staging) environments.

Note (A) The EDB™ Limited Use License is free upon download and allows 60 day evaluation use of EDB Postgres Advanced Server and EDB Postgres Tools in non-production environments only. The EDB Subscription, Support and Services Agreement is available by purchase only and allows non-production use of EDB Postgres Advanced Server with EDB Postgres Tools in an EDB Postgres Developer subscription and production use in an EDB Postgres Enterprise subscription.
Note (B) All EDB Postgres Tools are licensed under the EDB Subscription, Support and Services Agreement. EDB Postgres Tools are not sold separately and are only available as part of a purchased database subscription.
Note (C) The open source versions of EDB Postgres Data Adapters must be downloaded from https://github.com/EnterpriseDB/ where they are known as Foreign Data Wrappers (FDWs). Note (F) An EDB Postgres Developer subscription allows a maximum of 3 open tickets in any 48 hour period.
Note (G) uniCore means either of the following: a) a processor core in a single or multi-core processor chip or b) a virtual core processor (also known as a vCore, virtual CPU or vCPU) used to assign computing resources to a virtual machine or container. uniCores may be freely de-commissioned from one deployment environment and re-deployed to another (e.g. de-commission your physical deployment and re-deploy to a virtual environment).

EDB Postgres Ark DBaaS Subscriptions

Customers have multiple options for EDB Postgres Ark subscriptions:

  • Current subscribers to EDB Postgres Enterprise or EDB Postgres Standard may purchase one or more EDB Postgres Ark subscriptions.
  • New EDB Postgres Enterprise or EDB Postgres Standard customers may purchase EDB Postgres Ark to compliment their database subscriptions.
  • Self-supporting PostgreSQL users (who have no plans to purchase EDB Postgres Enterprise or EDB Postgres Standard), may purchase EDB Postgres Ark and the EDB Postgres Ark Runtime for PostgreSQL which manages a limited number of PostgreSQL cores with EDB Postgres Ark.

Note (1) Database Maintenance and Support Services are covered under a separately purchased subscription for EDB Postgres Enterprise or EDB Postgres Standard.
Note (2) e.g. One Ark Server = 1 EDB Postgres Ark installation = 1 UOM, two servers = 2 EDB Postgres Ark installations = 2 UOM etc.
Note (3) "Self-supported PostgreSQL" means customer does not have an EDB Postgres Enterprise or Standard database subscription but wishes to use EDB Postgres Ark to provision and manage their community PostgreSQL deployments.

Production Support Incident Types

The types of incidents supported and not supported are noted below.

Production Service Level Agreement (SLA)

"Severity 1 Error" means a catastrophic production Error in the Software which severely impacts Customer's production systems, or in which the Software in Customer's production systems are down or not functioning; or an Error in the Software which is causing a loss of production data and no procedural work around exists. Severity 1 Errors also include security breaches.

"Severity 2 Error" means the Software, which is in production, is operational but certain major functions are not performing in accordance with the Documentation and no workaround is available.

"Severity 3 Error" means (a) minor functions of the Software, which is in production, are not performing in accordance with the Documentation or (b) the Software, which is in development or a test environment, is not performing in accordance with the Documentation.

Production Support Exclusions

  • A failure of hardware, equipment or programs not covered by Support
  • Customer's failure to comply with operating instructions contained in the Documentation
  • A modification, enhancement or customization of the Software by anyone other than EnterpriseDB
  • Any cause or causes beyond the reasonable control of EnterpriseDB (e.g. floods, fires, loss of electricity or other utilities), errors arising from anything other than Software, such as, web-servers or hardware
  • Installation, configuration, management and operation of the Customer's applications
  • Software obtained from anyplace other than through the EnterpriseDB website
  • APIs interfaces or data formats other than those included with the Software
  • Products installed in an environment not supported by EnterpriseDB or EnterpriseDB products beyond their Extended Support lifecycle

Note: Production support does not include assistance in learning how to write database applications using one of the many languages supported by PostgreSQL. It does however, include help in tracking down suspected bugs or issues directly related to a language.

EDB Postgres Developer Non-Production Support

An EDB Postgres Developer subscription addresses the needs of application developers and non-production environments by providing:

  • Licensing for non-production use of EDB Postgres Advanced Server and all EDB Postgres Tools
  • Non-production Technical Support for PostgreSQL, EDB Postgres Advanced Server, and all EDB Postgres Tools

Non-production environments include but are not limited to: installations for application developers, QA or test setups and non-production staging environments.

An EDB Postgres Developer subscription provides the benefit of working in a licensed, supported and updated environment along with access to experts who can help resolve design issues, configure and optimize the database setup, and diagnose Postgres-related issues.
