EnterpriseDB Deepens Professional Services Group with new VP

Date -2013-02-26 Technology veteran will expand support, training and other professional services for EnterpriseDB customers and community PostgreSQL users

Bedford, MA – February 12, 2013 – EnterpriseDB, the leading worldwide provider of enterprise-class PostgreSQL products and Oracle database compatibility solutions, today announced technology company executive Marc Linster has joined as vice president of professional services. Linster began work today, reporting to CEO Ed Boyajian. Linster fills the vacancy created when Tom Kincaid moved over to become vice president of engineering in September 2012.

“Marc brings a compelling background that mixes technical expertise with management and operational roles. The combination gives him the insight and skills for helping our customers achieve their goals with Postgres and PostgreSQL,” said Ed Boyajian, CEO of EnterpriseDB. “We’re fielding a steady increase in engagements as more and more enterprises deploy Postgres and Marc is just the person to help us expand our services and deepen our reach in the marketplace.”

As the head of professional services, Linster will manage an expanding portfolio of products and services designed to support customer integrations and PostgreSQL deployments and to ensure end user success. EnterpriseDB and community PostgreSQL have enjoyed a surge in interest and demand over the past two years, driving up demand for complementary products, like Oracle migration consulting, specialized code development, training and ongoing support packages.

“EnterpriseDB has achieved an enviable market presence and is well positioned to provide the kinds of support, training and services companies may required as they migrate from costly, traditional databases to Postgres and PostgreSQL,” said Linster. “I look forward to expanding what we have to offer and creating new products and services packages to evolve with the changing marketplace.”

Linster joins EnterpriseDB after nearly four years at Polycom, where he served most recently as senior director of engineering in cloud and hosted solutions after two years managing operations in process reengineering, master data management and business intelligence. Prior to Polycom, Linster operated his consulting firm for two years helping businesses address global supply chain challenges. This tapped the expertise he develop at Avicon Group, where he spent six years, first as chief technology officer then as vice president of operations. He began his career as a research and advanced to managing engineering groups. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science form Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany.
