WEM 1.5.0
Released: 21 Oct 2026
WEM 1.5.0 includes new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
Note
WEM 1.5 works with acp-host-agent 1.1.0. You don't need to upgrade the host agent.
Highlights
- Wider platform support: WEM packages are now available for RHEL 10, Debian 13, and ppc64le. See Supported platforms.
- Faster, ClickHouse-native query scan: A ClickHouse-native job now scans query activity, replacing the agent-driven log scan. Query history is now stored in ClickHouse. See Configuration reference.
- Configuration drift detection: WEM periodically syncs the Safeguard configuration from your host agents to detect drift. See Detecting configuration drift.
- EDB installation layout: WEM now installs to the EDB standard layout. See Installing WEM and Upgrading WarehousePG Enterprise Manager.
New features
- Wider platform support: WEM packages are now available for RHEL 10, Debian 13, and ppc64le. See Supported platforms.
- ClickHouse-native query scan: A ClickHouse-native job replaces the agent-driven log scan that populated query history. WEM now stores query history in ClickHouse instead of in WarehousePG tables, so it stays available when the WarehousePG cluster is down.
QUERY_SCAN_INTERVALsets how often the job runs.QUERY_LOG_RETENTION_DAYSsets how longquery_log_historyrows stay in ClickHouse. See Configuration parameters. - Configuration drift detection: WEM periodically checks the Safeguard configuration files on the primary and DR clusters against its stored configuration, and updates its stored configuration with the values from the host.
CONFIG_DRIFT_ENABLEDturns the check on or off, andCONFIG_DRIFT_INTERVALsets how often it runs. See Detecting configuration drift. - CSV export on query monitor pages: Export the longest queries and historical queries to CSV. See Monitoring and evaluating queries.
- Improved query plan view: The graphical plan layout no longer overlaps nodes, node details show every field from the
EXPLAINoutput, and plan warnings appear in a sortable table. See Monitoring and evaluating queries. - Tooltips on the cluster overview: Info icons on the Connections, Databases, Active Queries, and Database Connections panels explain what each one counts. See Verifying and managing cluster health.
- More detail in the Recent Logs panel: The panel, previously named Recent WHPG Log Alerts, now shows the timestamp, severity level, and source host of each entry. See Getting started with WarehousePG Enterprise Manager.
Changes
- Data Analysis renamed to Database Objects: The Data Analysis menu item and page are now Database Objects. See Analyzing data distribution.
- Parameters removed from
wem.conf:LOG_SCAN_INTERVAL,LOG_SCAN_ENABLED, andWEM_AGENT_CALLBACK_BASE_URLno longer exist. Existing overrides stop working, so remove them fromwem.confwhen you upgrade. See Configuration parameters for the replacement settings. - EDB installation layout: WEM installs to the EDB layout. The working directory moves from
/usr/local/greenplum-db/wemto/usr/edb/wem, the logs move from/var/log/wemto/var/log/edb/wem, and the configuration file moves from/etc/wem/wem.confto/etc/edb/wem/wem.conf. The TLS example paths inwem.confforPGSSLCERT,PGSSLKEY,PGSSLROOTCERT,WEM_SSLCERT,WEM_SSLKEY, andWEM_SSLROOTCERTmoved from/etc/wem/tls/to/etc/edb/wem/tls/. See Installing WEM and Upgrading WarehousePG Enterprise Manager. - Canary checks are read-only: Canary checks now run in a read-only transaction, and WEM accepts only a single
SELECTstatement or aWITHquery that doesn't modify data. Existing checks that modify data keep running but show as critical until you edit or delete them. See Configuring canary checks andwem canary import.
Bug fixes
- Fixed the session filter on the Logs tab returning no rows.
- Fixed the HBA Editor showing
fetching…indefinitely when the host agent or the job-execution engine is unreachable. WEM now shows the error within a few seconds. - Fixed WEM detecting the resource manager type only once, at startup. WEM now detects it live, so changes on the cluster are picked up without restarting WEM.
- Fixed tabs on the Database Objects page showing data for the previously selected database after you switched databases.
- Fixed the Longest Queries empty state hiding the backend message that explains why no queries appear.
- Fixed the Bloat tab not detecting append-optimized (AO) and append-optimized column-oriented (AOCO) tables, and showing a bloat percentage outside 0 to 100. The tab now has a Storage column.
- Fixed the PXF tab showing the status Unknown on single-host installations.
- Fixed WEM failing after you replace the WarehousePG cluster with a new one, because the objects it needs in the cluster weren't created. WEM now detects the new cluster and creates them.
Deprecations
The following compatibility measures are available in 1.5.0 only and will be removed in 1.6.0.
- Working directory link: On upgrade, standalone WEM hosts get a link from
/usr/local/greenplum-db/wemto/usr/edb/wem. On hosts where WEM runs alongside WarehousePG,/usr/local/greenplum-dbbelongs to WarehousePG, so WEM creates no link and prints a warning instead. - Binary link: A link from
/usr/edb/wem/wemto/usr/edb/wem/bin/wem. - Log directory link: On upgrade, WEM moves the old logs to
/var/log/edb/wemand creates a link from/var/log/wemto it. If/var/log/wemstill contains other files, WEM leaves it in place, creates no link, and prints a warning. - Old configuration path: WEM reads the configuration from
/etc/wem/wem.conf, with a warning, only if/etc/edb/wem/wem.confis missing.
Update any scripts, monitoring, or tooling that use the old paths before you upgrade to 1.6.0.
