Summary
Type confusion with PostgreSQL function arguments of the "internal" pseudo-type allows any user to execute arbitrary code as the operating system user running the database. The "internal" type represents data structures that are not intended to be reachable from SQL; existing protections against calling such functions contain gaps that allow the restriction to be bypassed. Versions before PostgreSQL 18.5, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24 are affected.
