Date -2013-09-12 Location - BEDFORD, Mass. EnterpriseDB to Promote Growth of Postgres as Lead Sponsor at Postgres Open 2013
EnterpriseDB (EDB), the leading worldwide provider of enterprise-class Postgres products and Oracle database compatibility solutions, today announced that for the third year, they are a lead sponsor of Postgres Open 2013. Additionally, Bruce Momjian, Robert Haas and other EnterpriseDB staff will present on technical topics ranging from Postgres Plus Cloud Database to how Postgres uses sharding memory, query planning and more.
Established in 2011 by a group of major contributors within the Postgres Community, the Postgres Open conference provides a venue for business executives, database administrators and developers to exchange experiences and best practices for using Postgres to support business objectives. This year’s event, set to take place September 16-18, 2013 at the Hotel Sax Chicago, will kick off with a keynote from Python advocate Jesse Noller. Noller’s talk will highlight how companies are embracing open source.
Postgres continues to build momentum as companies increasingly choose open source technologies over outdated proprietary options. In fact, a recent survey of open source Postgres users found that production deployments of Postgres increased in 2012, with 40 percent using Postgres deployments to support mission-critical applications.
Further, the survey found that almost half of the users of Postgres had cut their database costs by 50 percent or more by migrating to the open source database.
“The Postgres Open conference is a great opportunity for business leaders and developers to come together to collaborate on bringing companies better cost-performance database options,” said Ed Boyajian, CEO at EDB. “As more enterprises accelerate their adoption of open source software, we look forward to continuing our promise of delivering powerful, enterprise-class Postgres products and services for our partners and customers.”
In conjunction with the conference, EDB is also conducting a 1-day training session, Introduction to PostgreSQL Administration, on Wednesday, September 19, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Conference attendees who wish to enroll in this training can take advantage of a 10% discount available on the EDB website.
