Participants in EDB’s Postgres training increased by 26% in 2014, reflecting continued rising demand for Postgres
EnterpriseDB (EDB), the leading worldwide provider of enterprise-class Postgres products and database compatibility solutions, today announced a host of new resources to support the rising ranks of new Postgres users and existing users expanding their deployments.
EDB has rolled out new training modules emphasizing live, online instruction. EDB has experienced a surge in demand for Postgres training with a 26% increase in participants in 2014 over 2013. Demand has expanded for live online instructor-led training classes as well as on-demand modules. This reflects the expansion of EDB’s end user base as subscription revenue and the ranks of new subscribers have risen steadily in the past four years and existing customers continue to expand their deployments. But it also reflects the rising interest in Postgres in the industry overall as many of EDB’s most popular classes are introductory and cover basic administration of open source Postgres.
“More companies are adopting Postgres and with our leadership position providing services and training, more companies are turning to us to prepare them for success,” said Marc Linster, Senior Vice President, Products & Services, at EnterpriseDB. “The growing numbers of students enrolling in courses prompted us to expand our Postgres Plus Developer Edition, giving organizations more pre-production resources to help them hone their skills as they develop successful applications.”
Postgres Plus Developer Edition
To support Postgres users building, configuring, testing and staging new mission-critical applications, EDB has rolled out new Postgres Plus Developer Edition subscriptions. Developer subscriptions now allow users to develop, prepare and test their databases in production-ready configurations using all of EDB’s tools for performance, scalability, high availability, and management. The development process is reinforced with feedback and advice from EDB service consultants.
Developer subscriptions support both open source PostgreSQL and EDB’s Postgres Plus Advanced Server, which extends PostgreSQL with enterprise-level performance, security and database compatibility for Oracle. The subscriptions enable users to design (with expert advice), customize and test their pre-production mission-critical deployments using:
- Postgres Enterprise Manager for monitoring, managing and tuning
- xDB Replication Server for replication solutions
- Failover Manager for Postgres high availability
- Backup and Recovery Tool to safeguard data
Postgres Plus Developer Edition subscriptions provide a fully supported Postgres environment including mission-critical tools, technical support, software updates, security alerts, and best practices from Postgres experts at EDB.
