EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.2 Now Available on HP-UX 11i v3

New Version Enhances ROI of HP-UX UNIX Installations

EDISON, N.J., Dec. 5, 2007 — EnterpriseDB, maker of the world’s leading Oracle-compatible database, today announced the release of EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.2 for HP-UX 11i v3, HP’s UNIX operating environment. EnterpriseDB Advanced Server is the award-winning, enterprise-class relational database management system (RDBMS) that runs many applications written for Oracle unchanged. The general availability release of EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.2, available since June, includes enhanced Oracle compatibility and easy migration from Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and Sybase databases. In addition, it incorporates all of the many performance and feature upgrades of Postgres 8.2, the world’s most advanced open source database. More information and free downloads of EnterpriseDB Advanced Server are available at www.enterprisedb.com.

According to recent research published by International Data Corporation, for the third quarter of 2007, HP holds a 28.6% share of the worldwide high-end UNIX server revenue.

“We are pleased to announce our support for the HP-UX 11i v3 UNIX operating environment,” said Bob Zurek, chief technology officer, EnterpriseDB. “Running EnterpriseDB Advanced Server on HP-UX 11i v3 can greatly enhance the ROI of enterprise customers’ HP-UX deployments, particularly those customers using Oracle.”

“For enterprise customers running business-critical applications on their servers, security and continuous availability are key,” said Brian Cox, director of software planning and marketing, Business Critical Systems, HP. “EnterpriseDB’s open source Postgres foundation, with its solid reputation for enterprise-class performance, is a perfect complement to the security, reliability and availability that HP-UX provides.”

EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.2 supports the Oracle Call Interface (OCI), a set of APIs used to interact with Oracle databases. This significantly broadens the range of Oracle applications that can run on EnterpriseDB with little or no modification. For example, EnterpriseDB’s support for OCI now enables many packaged applications from third-party vendors to be quickly and easily deployed on the EnterpriseDB platform.

EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.2 for HP-UX 11i v3 is available as a free download at http://www.enterprisedb.com/postgresql-products/download. License and technical support subscriptions are priced at $5,995 per CPU per year.
