EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.2 Now Available for Linux on IBM System z, AIX on IBM System
Latest Version of Award-Winning Database Lowers Customer TCO, Increases Deployment Flexibility
EDISON, N.J., Jan. 22, 2008 - EnterpriseDB, maker of the world's leading Oracle-compatible database, today announced the release of EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.2 for Linux on IBM® System z® mainframes. EnterpriseDB Advanced Server for both SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 has been tested by EnterpriseDB to work on IBM System z. The company also announced the availability of EnterpriseDB Advanced Server for AIX® on IBM System p™ servers. EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.2 supports the Oracle Call Interface (OCI), a set of APIs used to interact with Oracle databases. This significantly broadens the range of Oracle applications that can run on EnterpriseDB with little or no modification. For example, EnterpriseDB's support for OCI now enables many packaged applications from third-party vendors to be quickly and easily deployed on the EnterpriseDB platform.
