ISELIN, N.J., July 26, 2007 – EnterpriseDB, the Oracle-compatible database company, today announced Bob Zurek as its new chief technology officer. Zurek brings nearly 30 years of enterprise software experience to EnterpriseDB and will serve as the company’s lead product strategist and technical evangelist. More information about EnterpriseDB, including biographies of the entire executive team, is available at www.enterprisedb.com.

“Bob has an impressive track record of technology leadership, and is widely respected for his strategic vision,” said Andy Astor, chief executive officer, EnterpriseDB. “His insight and experience in the enterprise infrastructure market will be great assets to the company. Bob will work closely with co-founder and chief architect, Denis Lussier, and the rest of the executive management team, to help EnterpriseDB solidify its position as publisher of the world’s leading Oracle-compatible database. This is an exciting time for EnterpriseDB, and I’m pleased to welcome Bob to the team.”

Before joining EnterpriseDB, Zurek was director of product strategy in IBM’s Information Platform and Solutions Group where he was responsible for driving and executing the technical strategy for information integration solutions as they relate to software, hardware, services, vertical industries, and emerging markets. Prior to that, Zurek was vice president of product management and advanced technologies at Ascential Software, where he was instrumental in developing and driving Ascential’s enterprise data integration software strategy. IBM acquired Ascential in 2005.

Before joining Ascential, Zurek was a senior technology research analyst with Forrester Research, where he focused on emerging technologies. Previously, Zurek co-founded LumaPath, creator of one of the first contextual relevance servers. Zurek also co-founded Infinity, an early client/server solutions company acquired by Powersoft. At Powersoft, he was both a fellow and vice president of research and technology. Zurek held the same positions at Sybase after it acquired Powersoft. While at Sybase, Zurek co-invented PowerSite, one of the industry’s first enterprise web application development tools. He was also vice president and chief technology officer of Incentive Systems.

Zurek is a popular blogger and leads the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council’s Open Source Cluster. He also serves as an advisor to many emerging technology companies. Zurek holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Keene State College.

“I’m very excited to begin working with the EnterpriseDB team, and especially with the PostgreSQL open source community with which the company is so closely involved,” said Zurek. “The PostgreSQL community is the finest open source community I’ve encountered during a long career of involvement with open source.”
