MIT Technology Review and EnterpriseDB Launch ‘Vision Talks’ Executive Roundtable Series to Explore Open Source Innovation in Data Management

Date -2016-06-17 Location - CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The theme of the ‘Vision Talks’ events is Achieving Digital Transformation: The Promise, Challenge, and Opportunity of Open Source Software in Data Management. These free events provide a forum for C-level executives and data industry leaders at the forefront of open source software innovation to:

  • exchange ideas fueling current open source and data initiatives;
  • share experiences, successes, and failures with new data management technologies and companies; and
  • further the dialogue about the role open source is playing in digital transformation in the enterprise.

“MIT Technology Review’s mission is to equip audiences with the intelligence to understand and contribute to a world shaped by technology. Open source software promises a great deal for modernizing database infrastructures to support new web, mobile, cloud, IoT, and other digital initiatives,” said Kathleen Kennedy, President of MIT Technology Review and MIT Enterprise Forum. “The ‘Vision Talks’ series is an opportunity to learn from leaders who have realized success with innovative open source data management solutions.”

Adds Ed Boyajian, President and CEO of EnterpriseDB, “An entirely new conversation on the role of open source is taking place and it’s being led by the data teams in IT who are burnt out on overspending on the old school vendors. The conversation is being driven by the convergence of new digital business transformation initiatives, the rapid expansion of mature open source data technologies, the fast-growing list of success stories and ROI, and the maturity of companies that deliver these open source technologies. Our experience with EDB Postgres and 25 consecutive quarters of growth is a powerful proof point of the change, and we are now being asked to lead a dialogue in IT on the best ways to leverage and bring together EDB Postgres with other open source data technologies as part of a strategic digital transformation. We are delighted to be leading this critical conversation with MIT Technology Review.”

The Boston-area ‘Vision Talk’ event will be held at 6:00-8:00 pm EDT on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at MIT (Building E90), One Main Street, 12th Floor, Cambridge, MA 02142. The featured speakers include:
