Alpha 2 for 2UDA released

August 19, 2015

So, the Alpha 2 for 2ndQuadrant’s Unified Data Analytics (or 2UDA) was released today. We have basically repackaged the latest versions of PostgreSQL 9.5, Orange 3, & LibreOffice 5 in this release. Some major installer enhancements have also made it in, including operating system level services for PostgreSQL on OSX and Linux as well as code signing certificate for Windows.

To give you a little bit of a background, 2UDA emerged from an EU-sponsored project, AXLE, that is aimed at analytics for very large databases. It was as a part of this project that we contributed the tablesample feature for PostgreSQL, which serves to ease the pain of analyzing large data sets, dramatically reducing time taken to wade through the data. 2UDA packages PostgreSQL, Orange, & LibreOffice in an easy-to-use GUI installer that tightly integrates the components, making them ready to use right out of the box.

Go ahead, take a peak. It should be fun!
