PostgreSQL offers powerful physical and logical replication mechanisms for ensuring data availability. EDB's Postgres Distributed (PGD) builds on these by providing an advanced, flexible distributed database solution, offering active-active replication, high availability, and data distribution. PGD addresses limitations of traditional replication through features like selective replication, advanced conflict management, and DDL replication, enabling highly available, scalable, and resilient distributed PostgreSQL clusters
