“We Never Stand Still”: Ata Ul Haseeb Chaudhry’s 20 Years at EDB
Ata Ul Haseeb Chaudhry is a senior director of Treasury and Financial Operations at EDB. He joined the company in our Islamabad office and, over the past two decades, has helped steer its financial operations through a period of major growth and transformation.
We asked Haseeb to reflect on his time at EDB—the growth, the global collaboration, and the advice he’d give to anyone starting their career here. Here’s what he shared.
Never standing still
Q: What’s kept you at EDB for 20 years?
A: The sheer scale of our evolution. I started my journey with EDB back in our Islamabad office when we were a much smaller operation, and today I am sitting in the U.S. helping steer the financial operations of a fast-growing global enterprise. What keeps me here is that we never stand still. There is always a new challenge to solve and a new phase of growth to architect, whether that’s integrating major acquisitions, streamlining our financial infrastructure, or building out entirely new functions.
Room to redefine
Q: When you look at your own journey here, how has EDB's “Grow and Evolve” mindset shown up for you?
A: For me, “Grow and Evolve” has been the defining theme of my career. It has shown up in the immense trust leadership has placed in me to continuously expand my scope. I’ve had the opportunity to evolve from managing global accounting to overseeing complex financial operations across our entire global footprint. EDB gives you the flexibility to not just do your job but to continually redefine it.
Culture without borders
Q: We’re a global, remote-first team. Can you tell us about a time when global collaboration surprised you or made a project better?
A: The most striking example was during our major acquisitions in 2019 and 2022. We had to seamlessly integrate the financial operations of global teams without missing a beat on our day-to-day reporting. Collaborating across different time zones, cultures, and legacy systems could have been incredibly difficult, but the resilience and adaptability of our global finance team made it a massive success. It proved to me that when you have a unified culture, geographical borders really do not matter.
Automation buys back time
Q: What does work-life balance at EDB actually look like for you day to day?
A: Because I manage a global team spanning multiple countries, I naturally work across multiple time zones, but EDB’s remote-first culture makes it entirely manageable. Work-life balance for me looks like having the autonomy to structure my day so I can be present for my family while still partnering effectively with our teams in Asia and Europe. We focus heavily on outcomes and automation rather than clock-watching. By implementing new systems, expanding automation, and utilizing AI, we’ve been able to give our teams significant time back—proving that you can achieve massive operational scale without burning out.
Build for what’s next
Q: If you were sitting down with a new hire today, what’s one piece of “EDB wisdom” you’d give them to help them make the most of their career here?
A: Be a builder, not just an operator. As EDB continues its hyper-growth, don’t just look at the processes you inherited. Look at what the company will need two years from now and start building that infrastructure today. Embrace automation, lean into cross-functional partnerships, and never be afraid to raise your hand to solve a complex problem outside of your immediate job description.
