Every year thousands of open source advocates come together to celebrate the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and open source at the FOSSASIA Summit. This year there were more than 5,000 attendees at the summit in Hanoi, many of them students.
Our very own Field CTO for Asia Pacific Japan, Ajit Gadge, was there as well, participating in many thought-provoking discussions with PostgreSQL enthusiasts from pgEdge, Stormatics, Fujitsu, AWS, Postgres Pro and other organizations.
Ajit gave a talk about achieving high availability, disaster recovery and fault tolerance with Postgres. He discussed how organizations can implement robust high availability database systems to safeguard themselves against hardware failure, natural disasters, power outages and other risks.
Whether it's a small enterprise or a multinational corporation, the principles remain the same – prioritize uptime, mitigate risks, and ensure seamless operations.
Ajit emphasizes that as technology evolves, so must our strategies for maintaining uninterrupted operations. With robust high availability systems in place, businesses can weather any storm, secure in the knowledge that their data and operations remain resilient in the face of adversity.
At EDB, we’re proud to be part of the vibrant open source community, and we’re always excited to share availability strategies, Postgres development tips and code at events and conferences around the world. FOSSASIA was especially meaningful, since we got to connect with the many students – the up-and-coming Postgres contributors – who attended the summit.
Given that these students are the next generation of the open source Postgres community, the future of Postgres looks bright indeed.
