EnterpriseDB Announces Its Selection by Sun Microsystems to Provide PostgreSQL Support for Applications Running the Solaris 10 Operating System

ISELIN, N.J., Aug. 8, 2006 –EnterpriseDB, the world’s leading enterprise-class, open source database company, announced today that Sun Microsystems, Inc. has selected EnterpriseDB to provide Sun with technical support and related professional services and training for Sun's PostgreSQL offering. Sun recently integrated PostgreSQL, the world’s most advanced open source database, into its Solaris(TM) 10 Operating System (OS). EnterpriseDB’s flagship product, EnterpriseDB Advanced Server, is an enterprise-class database that runs applications written for Oracle and is based on PostgreSQL. EnterpriseDB is a significant contributor to and supporter of the PostgreSQL code base and the PostgreSQL developer community.

Under the arrangement announced today, Sun will provide its customers with technical support and will turn to EnterpriseDB for additional support. EnterpriseDB will also provide Sun with custom training classes for its engineering and technical support teams. Finally, EnterpriseDB may provide professional services and consulting related to PostgreSQL architecture and development to Sun or Sun’s customers.
