EnterpriseDB to Sponsor PostgreSQL Community Annual Conference

WHAT: |
Bruce Momjian will highlight the ways in which the PostgreSQL community will meet software development and other challenges differently in the future. Future changes include moving beyond feature parity with other databases and focusing on performance improvements for single-session workloads. Pavan Deolasee will discuss the technical architecture of HOT (Heap-Only-Tuples), a key feature of PostgreSQL 8.3. HOT significantly increases the database's performance over long periods of time in update-intensive OLTP applications. Deolasee will discuss the internal architecture of HOT and the interesting technical challenges faced during HOT's development. He will also share HOT's performance statistics and limitations. HOT was conceived, designed, implemented, and shepherded through the PostgreSQL community development process by the EnterpriseDB team. |
