What’s New in PostgreSQL 15

The PostgreSQL Global Development Group announced the release of PostgreSQL 15 on October 13. PostgreSQL 15 builds on the performance improvements of recent releases with noticeable gains for managing workloads in both local and distributed deployments, including improved sorting. This release improves the developer experience with the addition of the popular MERGE command, and adds more capabilities for observing the state of the database.

Now that this release has been out for a few weeks, EDB would like to share some of the biggest features, as well as some hidden gems that you may not have noticed. In this 30-minute webinar, Lætitia Avrot, EDB field CTO, and Bruce Momjian, EDB VP, Postgres evangelist will explore what’s new in 15 and answer any questions you may have.

In this webinar, you will learn about:

  • Postgres log changes (default changes, new JSON format)
  • Logical replication changes (add all the tables from a schema, row filter)
  • MERGE SQL command
  • HEADER clause for a COPY command
  • Public schema changes
  • End of exclusive backups
  • Some features that didn’t quite make the release
