Release Radar: BigAnimal Now Supports Read-Only Workloads

October 12, 2022

With this week’s release, we’re supporting read-only workloads for high availability clusters. When you enable read-only workloads, you are given a connection string to your cluster’s standby replicas, allowing you to route read traffic to the standbys instead of the primary node. This can lessen the amount of traffic going to the primary node, freeing it up to handle writes and improving the performance of the overall cluster.

Try it out

When creating or editing a high availability cluster in BigAnimal, find read-only workloads in the Connections section and toggle it on.

Once your cluster is ready, navigate to the Connect tab to find its read-only connection string. Use this string in your apps and queries to route reads to standby replicas.
