Last week, EDB engineers Matheus Alcantara and Euler Taveira attended the ISO/IEC SQL Standards Committee meeting in São Paulo as invited guests, supported remotely by veteran member Peter Eisentraut. The duo compared the collaborative environment to a PostgreSQL "Commitfest," where technical papers are proposed, debated, and refined much like code patches.

It’s been roughly a year since Andrew Dunstan first proposed an internal training program designed to mentor the next generation of PostgreSQL developers. Last week, the inaugural "Developer U" cohort gathered in for their second in-person session. I caught up with the trainers and participants to get the inside scoop on how the program is evolving.

He always assumed that he didn’t have the skills, but taught himself some x86 assembler and C in his spare time, and when it came to apply, she encouraged him to give it a shot.

Mario Gonzalez is based in Chile, and works in the TPA (Trusted Postgres Architect) team at EDB. In past years he also worked on edb-python, Barman and repmgr.
